Miller Activity Center

Every child should be able to play the game of soccer! We are pleased to announce our Castle Rock location has partnered with the Town of Castle Rock to provide a fall and spring soccer season for children in the area with special needs. Through the Rapids and the Town of Castle Rock’s Adaptive Soccer program, players will learn the basics of soccer in a fun, safe, and loving atmosphere. Soccer skills will be taught in an imaginative way, using soccer to nurture and inspire creativity. In addition to a fall and spring season, players in the Adaptive Soccer Program will be invited to the Rapids Road Show in Castle Rock!

The Dare to Play Soccer Camp is a collaboration between Global, Regis University Men’s Soccer, and the Colorado Rapids. Individuals with Down syndrome (males and females) ages 7 and above learn the basic skills, camaraderie, and joy of soccer from college and professional soccer players. During 3 practices, campers are paired with a collegiate player from Regis University. The Camp includes two game performances, where campers get to show off during half-time at a Regis game and at a professional Colorado Rapids match in front of thousands of fans!

What is TOPSoccer?

TOPSoccer is a community-based program that is designed to meet the needs of children and young adults that have physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The program is geared towards player development rather than competition. US Youth Soccer purports to be the “Game for all Kids” and this program allows us to include this largely overlooked segment of our population in our already established leagues and clubs.

What can parents expect?

Families can expect that it will be a fun and meaningful experience for their child. The games and activities will be adapted in ways that ensure the child will learn at his/her own pace. With organized practices and games, the program will improve the overall fitness, self-esteem, and social skills of their player.
