Joining us for the 11th Annual Rapids Classic that will take place in late August of 2022! The Classic is now the SECOND largest tournament in Colorado after hosting 530 teams in 2021! Thank you to all teams who made last year’s event so special.

- The Colorado Rapids will take on Houston Dynamo on Saturday, August 20th, kicking off at 7:00 PM!
- All teams registered will have the opportunity to get discounted tickets to the match!
- All games on Saturday, August 20th will conclude before 6:30 PM to ensure all teams who would like to go to the game can attend!
- CRYSC will host The Rapids Classic Tailgate outside the stadium with a live DJ!

The 2021 Rapids Classic was the go-to destination for top teams across the front range and western United States. With 530 teams joining us, hundreds of goals were scored and thousands of memories were made for our youth athletes!
General Event Details & Critical Event Timeline
Teams should register and play according to the 2022 Fall season. We will follow US Soccer’s Age Group Guidelines based on birth year.Β Gold Divisions will comprise the highest level of teams registered. You should register your team according to the below hierarchy:Β
- GOLD DIVISIONS – ECNL, Academy, & CSA CL P1-P2 teams
- SILVER DIVISIONS – CSA CL P3, Elite, and Platinum teams
- BRONZE DIVISIONS – CSA Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Recreational Teams
Early Bird Registration:
- The Waitlist Period will begin on July 14th, 2022.
- FINAL Registration Deadline will close on July 21st, 2022Β
- Teams waitlisted will be notified no later than July 21st, 2022 of their acceptance into the event.
**A $100 late fee will be added on for all registrations received during our waitlist time period.**
Acceptance Process:
- Acceptances have begun!
- If your team is traveling for this event, please reach out directly to check the status of your application. We can accommodate early acceptances for traveling teams to help them plan their trips by accepting teams sooner.
Payment Process:
- Your card has been stored on file along with your application.
- Tournaments staff will process payments closer to the event date to avoid complications if teams withdraw or need refunds.
Bracket Release and Schedule Release Timeline:
- Tournament Brackets:
- Brackets will be released to teams in the days after registrations close.Β
- Placement will be based on the questions you answered in the application as well as your GotSoccer ranking and league standings.
- Teams will have 24 hours to review placement and request changes, all changes are subject to staff authorization and no guarantees can be made.
- If you have any special requests, please reach out early and let us know! We will do our best to accommodate, but can not make any guarantees.
- Example: βOur team lost some players since last year, so we should be in Bronze not Silverβ or βWe want a harder schedule, please place us up a bracket if possible!β

Teams Traveling From Out of State or Far Distances:
- Schedules will be prioritized to give Thursday and Friday before 5:00 PM as travel days to arrive in Denver, Colorado.
- Teams traveling far distances WILL NOT have games on Thursday.
- Friday games after 5:00 PM ARE a possibility for all teams.
- ALL TEAMS staying in hotels must use Traveling Team services to assist their stay in Colorado. Contact info can be found in the “Lodging” tab above.

Β In order to certify rosters and check teams in a way to save time and effort for team managers, administrators, and tournament staff alike, please follow the below guidelines.

Roster Verification Process:
You will be responsible for 3 things to check in your team:
- Submit your club-approved roster as a PDF through your registration.
- Go back into your GotSport tournament registration – Click HERE!
- In the Application Questions part, on Page 2 you will find an area to upload your roster PDF.
- Build a roster for your team in GotSport.
- For most CSA League teams, this will be as simple as βcloningβ your roster from your league season into your tournament roster.
- You can add and subtract players, coaches, etc. here.

- Show proof of medical forms and guest player forms at Check-In onsite.
- Prior to your first match, you must check in at the βCheck-In Tentβ at your facility where you will play your first game.

Roster Uploading Timeline:
- Roster Deadline: August 3rd, 2022
- Verified rosters must be completed and accurate in GotSport by this date.
- Referees will use the GotSport Game Card with rosters printed on them as the verified roster.
- The referee will check your roster on your phone before the kickoff of each match.
- If there are any disputes in regards to player eligibility or roster eligibility, the referee will use the provided roster to compare with the GotSport Game Card roster.
Check-In Process:
- At check-in, you MUST show online proof of:
- Submitted online roster through your phone/tablet.
- Guest player forms (PDF)
- Medical forms (PDF)
- Β All teams MUST check-in 1 hour prior to their first gameβs start time.
- One team representative (Coach or Manager) must verbally agree and listen to the roster agreement when you check in that confirms your roster is age-eligible, and should there be any discrepancies in the roster at any point throughout the event, your team is subject to immediate removal from the event without refund
Weather, External Conditions, and Cancellations
Regardless of weather conditions (unless for safety reasons), players and coaches must be on the field at the scheduled time, ready to play. The Tournament Director has the authority to reduce the length of matches due to weather conditions before the start of a match; all such matches will be considered official. The Tournament Director may also reschedule (time and location) a match before it begins. Only referees or the Site Director can suspend a match already started due to weather conditions. All matches that reach halftime will be considered final per the Tournament Director. i.e. 1 second into 2nd half and the home team leads 1:0, lighting strikes, the game is considered over.Β
Severe Weather in Area:
- Should a storm begin to threaten the event, state-of-the-art radar will be used to determine the distance of the storm and any strikes of lightning that may be within a 10-mile radius.Β
- Should there be a lightning strike within said 10-mile radius, games will be temporarily stopped and teams must return to their cars.Β
- A βWaiting Timeβ of 30 minutes without a strike of lightning must be observed before the teams can safely return to the facility.Β
- If the βWaiting Timeβ exceeds 60 minutes, games will be ended at their time of stoppage if more than 60% of the game has been completed.Β
- If less than 60% of the game has been completed, the Tournament Director has the authority to reschedule the game to a new time or cancel the game and award points based on a points averaging scale.Β
Cancellation Refund Agreement:
- For a tournament in progress (dates of the planned event), in the event of rain, snow or acts of God, the tournament director reserves the right to reduce game times and numbers of games.
- Refund Structure is as follows:
- 100% refund – if the tournament is canceled in its entirety due to COVID-19.Β
- 80% refund – if the event is canceled entirely due to weather, or any other external forces.Β
- 60% refund – If only 1 game is played of the 3 guaranteed games.Β
- 30% refund – If only 2 games are played of the 3 guaranteed games.Β
- No refund is given if:
- A team withdraws within 30 days prior to the tournament.
- a team decides to forfeit a game, giving them less than the guaranteed minimum of played games.Β
- The team withdraws to play in another tournament.
Colorado Air Quality Monitoring:
- Due to the danger of forest fires, referee assignors on site will monitor the air pollution levels if necessary.Β
- Should levels rise to 125, referees will instill water breaks and staff will actively monitor the Air Quality situation.
- Should levels rise to 150 or higher, games may be shortened by up to 10 minutes per half.Β
- Should levels rise to 200 or higher, games will be canceled on the spot and attempted to be rescheduled.

- All teams and players are to register by Calendar Year.
- Example – Fall 2022 Season 2009’s = U14
- Every competitive team 9U-19U is required to complete a roster within GotSport 2.0.

Refund Policy
Cancellation Refund Agreement:
- For a tournament in progress (dates of planned event), in the event of rain, snow or acts of God, the tournament director reserves the right to reduce game times and numbers of games.
- Should there be any cancellations creating a difference in games played in a division, all scoring will transition to “Points Per Game” average for those divisions.
- Games cancelled early will have a score stand if more than 50% of the 1st half minutes are played.
- Refund Structure is as follows:
- 100% refund – if the tournament is cancelled in entirety due to COVID-19.Β
- 80% refund – if the event is cancelled entirely due to weather, or any other external forces.Β
- 60% refund – If only 1 game is played of the 3 guaranteed games.Β
- 30% refund – If only 2 games are played of the 3 guaranteed games.
- No refund is given if:
- A team withdraws within 30 days prior to the tournament.
- a team decides to forfeit a game, giving them less than the guaranteed minimum of played games.Β
- The team withdraws to play in another tournament.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does registration open and what is the registration deadline?
The Waitlist Period begins on July 14th, 2022.
The Final Deadline is July 21st, 2022.
Teams who apply during the waitlist week will be notified no later than by July 21st, 2022 of their acceptance into the event.
**A $100 late fee will be added on for all registrations received during our waitlist time period.**
Where will the tournament games be located?
The tournament will be held at DICK’S Sporting Goods Complex, The Gates Soccer Complex and Aurora Sports Park. For more information, refer to our Tournament Resource Hub above!
When will teams be notified if they are accepted?
Teams will begin seeing acceptance notifications as early as 6 weeks before the tournament date. Acceptances will cease within 2 weeks of the event date.
How many games are guaranteed?
Every team is guaranteed three games.
When will schedules be posted?
Schedules will be sent out no later than two weeks prior to tournament kickoff. Schedules can be found on GotSoccer OR at the top of this web page.
What is the point system for this tournament?
Scoring
The following points are allotted per instance:

SIX points for a win;
-
THREE points for a tie;

ZERO points for a loss;

Minus one (-1) point for each red card issued to a player, coach or parent; and

Minus two (-2) points for a forfeiture or abandonment of a game.
Determination of Group Winners
In group play, there will be no overtime games. Standings in a group will be determined by game points:

In the event that two or more teams are tied in points at the end of the preliminary games, the following tie breakers shall be applied in the order given until a winner is determined:

Forfeits
For U11-U18 matches a minimum of seven (7) players constitutes a game. Games should start at the given start time. In case the team does not have seven (7) players present, there will be a maximum of five (5) minutes grace period before awarding the game to the opponent. A forfeit will be scored 3-0.
How can I find out the scores and standings?
All scores are entered and updated immediately online as soon as game cards are received. Β The scores for the final game of the day will be entered within 2 hours of the score being received. Β All flights and playoff games for day 2 of the tournament will be updated online 2 hours following the final game on day 1. Β The website will be the most up-to-date and accurate information for scores and standings.
Will there be finals for all flights?

4 team bracket β 3-game round robin with the top 2 teams playing in a championship.

5 team bracket β 4-game round robin with highest point team as champion.

6 team bracket β Two 3-team groups playing 3 cross-bracket group games. Winner of each bracket play in a championship game.

8 team bracket β Two 4-team groups playing a 3-game round robin with the top team from each group playing in a championship game.
Who will be receiving medals and trophies?
- First place teams will receive a “Champions” medal for each player and coach, and 1 “Champion” trophy per team.
- Second place teams will receive a “Finalist” medal each player and coach.
