In July 2022, Rapids Youth Soccer and Regis University Soccer kicked off the collaborative 2022 Elite Camp series which featured 5-day development opportunities that utilize all of Regis University’s fantastic fields and facilities. These included a world-class grass match field, state-of-the-art turf fields, classrooms, indoor futsal courts, food courts, on-site residential accommodations, and much more.

Why Rapids Youth Soccer and Regis University?

In 2022, Rapids Youth Soccer and Regis University entered into a partnership to bring the two organizations closer together and connect local youth soccer players with state-of-the-art sports facilities on a college campus. The University recently built two new turf fields, upgraded its indoor facilities, and continues to maintain a professional-grade quality grass field. Rapids Elite programming relocated to what the Club refers to as the “Elite Performance Center at Regis University” in April, and this is where all Elite activities will take place for the next decade+.

Why Partner To Host Elite Camps?

Both organizations have a rich history of providing camps for players in the surrounding communities, however, Rapids Youth Soccer has yet to share its Elite Player Development Model with those outside of its program. Utilizing the expertise of both organizations and their high-quality coaches will provide attendees with a next-level experience.

Is this for "Elite players" only?

No. All players of all abilities are welcome to attend. Rapids Youth Soccer and Regis University coaches have combined to share a curriculum and range of methods commonly used in their Elite programs. Mental Performance skills, topic-specific content, and detailed coaching are all facets of the elite programming and the coaches will be applying this to all players, regardless of “level”.

Can ECNL Players participate?

Yes. ECNL Players are welcome to participate in any and all elite camps.

What are the differences between day camp and residential camp?

The day camp will take place every day between 9AM – 4PM, whereas the residential camp will begin each day (except arrival and departure day which will be half-day) at 9AM and conclude at 9PM. Attendees will stay overnight in the University dorms Monday to Friday at residential camp.

Are parents allowed to be on campus to watch training sessions?

We want the environment created to be as comfortable for the players as possible and so parents are more than welcome to be on campus to watch training sessions. All we would ask is that they stay on the bleachers when the fields are being used. The only exception to this will be the Futsal sessions, where space is not sufficient to accommodate spectators.

Will there be chaperones for the residential camp?

Yes. There will be a minimum of 12 chaperones staying with the attendees (including senior camp management) 24/7.

Can parents stay on campus if required?

Parents are more than welcome to interact with their children at any moment outside of the scheduled activity. The only caveat to this is that we would kindly request this is done either in the lobby of Clarke Hall, or in the Food Court. Whilst we want to ensure that all parties are comfortable and relaxed on campus, the player safety element must be cared for and identifying ‘non-Rapids/Regis Staff’ adults interacting with children is important, and so doing this in a controlled way at those two locations is how we will facilitate this.

What will the rooming arrangements be for the residential camp?

There will be a minimum of two players per room, with a communal bathroom on the same floor, along with at least one chaperone per floor.

How can we request roommates for the residential camp?

If you would like to request to room with another player in particular we would ask for the parents of both players to please reach out to Donald.Gillies@rapidsyouthsoccer.org to confirm this desired arrangement. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the request will be possible, we will try our utmost to ensure that it is.

What should I bring to camp?

Day Camp attendees should bring:

  • Outdoor practice clothing
  • Outdoor soccer cleats
  • Shin guards
  • Soccer Ball
  • Water Bottle (Refill station will be available)
  • Indoor soccer shoes/sneakers (for Futsal)

  • Outdoor soccer cleats
  • Shin guards
  • Water Bottles x2 (Refill station will be available)
  • Indoor soccer shoes/sneakers (for Futsal)
  • Sunscreen (if required – will also be provided)

What will the food be like?

For day campers, the only meal served will be lunch. We try to adhere to providing ‘performance-related’ food options, however, we also understand that a healthy diet of enjoyable food is important too. We will use local catering as well as on-campus dining.

University catering includes:

  • Jimmy John’s Sandwiches
  • Chick-Fil-A
  • Chipotle
  • Regis: Fresh Fruit & Lunch Meals

For residential campers, we will be providing breakfast (not Monday), lunch (not Friday), and dinner (not Friday) every day with the exceptions noted. Similar to the day campers we will be utilizing both on-site catering from Regis University Food Court as well as some of the vendors noted above. We will cater to special dietary requirements.

Can parents stay on campus?

Yes. If you wish to be a resident on campus during any of the camps we can arrange for housing to be made available on request at a cost.
